As a part of 9-members family and the
fifth among our siblings, I have always been taught to be a kind-hearted person,
optimistic, responsible, honest and determined in every good effort I do. I was
born on 23 September 1996 in Cherang Ruku, Kelantan and was given name Suria
Melati Binti Norizani. Up until now this name really suits me as well. My
parents always place a big hope upon me to fulfil my responsibility as a
human-kind, that is succeed in this world and in the eternal life as well. My
family is not classified as rich, but we lived simply without any lack in life
necessity. My father used to work as a teacher in Economic subject meanwhile my
mother also a teacher in ‘Kemahiran Hidup’ subject. When looking deeply in
themselves, my feeling always touched by their attitudes and sacrifices in
order to see me succeed in my study.
I finished my primary school years
with flying colours; 5A in UPSR. From that particular moment, I was decided to
continue my study at a school of excellence, Sekolah Menengah Imtiaz Kuala
Terengganu Yayasan Terengganu. Firstly, the main point was that my parents
wanted me to be religious and secondly, I emphasized on my parents that I
really wanted to diversity my knowledge not only in science field, but also in
religion.
So, I started my new life in this school as a
boarding student which had to been apart from my family and leaded myself to be
more independent and supportive in any problem that I had to face alone. As a
school which has its own speciality on producing students not only encyclopedic
and determined but also quranic, I need to be more tougher. Since first day I
entered this school, I learned to memorise the Quran by the enlightening from
my teachers and my friends. After all thick and thin, I managed to well
memorised of the Quran on 21 Februari 2012. On 2010, I passed an examination
that called Shahadah I’dadi with Mumtaz result which is compulsory to every student
in my school. I sat for my PMR examination on 2011 and with God’s will, I got
straight 9A’s. Praise to God. From all the years, I have learnt the importance
of trustworthy in friendship, family, God, self and how do all the values
related to each others. I realized that those things really play big roles in
my life.
Despite of those brilliant
achievements in my study, I had never forgotten to focus on co-curricular
activities. To me, all those activities would cultivate my personal building
like self-confidence, positive-thinking and many other values that I could not
retrieve them from academics learning merely. I joined many indoor and outdoor
activities. For indoor activities, I represented my school by participating
Quiz Chemistry National, speech choir until district level, writing essays on
Independence Day, ‘Nasyid’ competitions and many others. Thus, I realized that
cooperation was very essential in order for us to get our goals in anything we
dream about. I also like sport, so I participated in several kinds of them like
hockey, volleyball and netball. However, I enjoyed playing volleyball the most
because this sport had its own skills which needed a lot of practise to being
an expert. It also taught me to be a strategic person to handle the game
smoothly. The best achievement I had was when I was form 5; my team won the
third prize in district level. Eventhough, we just got the third prize but it was very memorable for
our team as we was the first team that achieved a place in this competition.
When I was Form 5, I was once again
had a big responsibility to fulfil my school’s hopes by achieving a great
result for our reputation school as the school of excellence. I built my own
timetable to make my routine more strategic and not wasted. This year was a
very difficult for me as I had struggled all the time despite the challenges
faced me more and more. Nevertheless, I had proven that when there is a will,
there is a way. I got 6A’s 2B’s 3C’s in my trial examination. From my trial result,
I tried to motivate myself to be more determined and hardworking in order to
face the most remarkable event on that year, SPM.
I got the slip with full of enjoyment
and grateful dancing together in my mind. Praise to god for giving the
brilliant result. With the result 9A’s and 2B’s, consequently I remembered
MARA. Whenever they asked me for why I
chose engineering I would simply reply “I like physics and I like anything that
related to engineering”. I guess someday they will know what I meant to say. Another
distinct reason for why I chose engineering course is that engineer plays an
important role in this new era since it builds one’s quality of life. By using
creativity and technical skills, an engineer is a problem solver. This can be
proven when an engineer is better. This can be proven when an engineer is
needed to overcome the problems in this hectic lifestyle such as the huddles of
pollution, traffic congestion, drinking water, urban development, community
planning and many other aspects.
I would like to further my
studies in engineering fields in the future. I am
very keen towards chemical engineering. Nowadays, chemical
engineering has a big impact towards human in everyday life. It plays a major role in
fulfilling our everyday basic needs as well as
enhancing civilisation that are more dependent on process industries as progressing economy resources as well as a
country civilisation. Back in school, I was very hoping that
I can pursue a course that
includes chemistry. I would like to continue my studies in Master and PhD level after getting my degree. I am looking
forward to continue my
studies under the scholarship of MARA to overseas. I am very determined to go on with engineering so that I
can get a great career in my life. I would
like to do researches and articles regarding chemical engineering as my contributions to my country. I hope to realize my dream to become a successful
engineer and to help our citizens to lead a
better life in the future. With this kind of determination, I
strongly believe that I can make Malaysia is a better place to live. With that,
I ends my writings with full of hope.
